Join the AHEN network
AHEN is a network built by and for African and diaspora economists who believe the continent deserves better analytical tools, better-trained economists, and better policy frameworks than orthodox economics has produced. There are four ways to engage:
Become a member
Join AHEN's growing network of heterodox economists, researchers, and practitioners across Africa and the diaspora. Membership is free and open to anyone working within or sympathetic to pluralist economic traditions.
Apply for a research grant
AHEN's annual research grant cycle opens in late 2026. Grants of up to USD 40,000 support original heterodox economic research with Africa relevance. All career stages welcome.
Join the mentorship programme
Apply as a mentee (early-career researcher or postgraduate student) or express interest as a mentor (established heterodox economist). Applications for the first cohort open in 2027.
Form a regional hub
Is your city or institution ready to host an AHEN hub? We are actively scouting for hub partners in North Africa, Lusophone Africa, and diaspora nodes in Europe and North America.
